Snaffles

The snaffle bit is the most widely used bit within the horse riding world. It simply consists of a bit mouthpiece along with normally rings on either side and acts to apply direct pressure to the horse. A bridle which uses on a snaffle is called a snaffle bridle and one which carries a snaffle and a curb bit is called a double bridle. They are used to apply pressure without leverage on the mouth.
